Ethereal Minimalist Bridal Portraits in Salt Lake City, Utah’s Mountains - Poise and Ivy Imagery
Any lover of the classics knows one thing without fail:
SUBSTANCE OVER STYLE.
The meaning of this phrase (that we all *actually know from Paul Hollywood in The Great British Bake Off), is that adding flashy and trendy themes and items to your wedding day isn’t going to matter at all if there’s no SUBSTANCE to it! Weddings are about YOUR value, your love story, your personality, and YOUR lives together. If your photographer can’t capture your love story and instead focuses on style over substance, you WILL be left with photos that don’t feel like you, and don’t tell YOUR story.
Always and forever, if you want your wedding style to stand the test of time, you need to value SUBSTANCE OVER STYLE.
lol and here I am with a very “trendy” and “stylish” photo rather than a classic one
That’s where I come in.
I’m Ivy, a wedding photographer specializing in emotional imagery that FEELS like YOU, TELLS YOUR STORY, and stands the test of time as photos that you’ll love as much as you do now as in 20 years.
You might be thinking, “Hm, a rare talent. Not sure if I believe it,” but here’s the secret:
I’m highly empathic and emotional and if you’re in love, you bet your buttons I can feel it. I’ve practiced seeing and feeling that, and putting that to work in my camera to get you the most incredible images you could dream of for your wedding.
This matters because:
If you want photos that truly have SUBSTANCE and aren’t JUST TRENDY, you need a photographer who can work with simplicity to bring out your personality and tell the story you want told.
Wedding photography isn’t just about smiling at the camera and posing for hours with your fiancee or new spouse. They’re about honoring the love that you feel toward one another and coming together with an artist such as myself to tell your love story in a way that will be felt for years and years to come.
Brielle’s stunning minimalistic bridal photoshoot in Salt Lake’s mountain meadows
For this bride, I wanted to make sure that I let her personality shine through in the photos, so we didn’t overburden ourselves with very much at all. Just this beautiful woman, the meadow, and the trees.
Scroll down to see the sort of magic we were able to create together, bringing about something beautiful and elegant for this modern bride.
This bride was on the introverted side, so while taking care to show her personality, I also wanted to honor that part of her! Most of the poses we did focused on how she was framed in the space around her, what the light was saying (like just below, we gave “soft, romantic, quiet love” from the light thorugh the trees.
Quite a few of our shots even have Brielle turned away from the camera, or lacking her face at all to enhance the beauty of the setting and of the bridal details.
Ok so I mean, if we’re completely honest with ourselves I might have taken what could be considered a plethora of photos at this hill, but can you blame me!!? Look at how stunning it was! It’s totally giving “Sound of Music” vibes. Plus, I felt like framing Brielle in the space rather than taking a ton of close headshots was going to give a more artistic and scenic feel to the photos, which is really what I was trying to create here.
I mean just LOOK at this veil!! My jaw was on the floor, I love it so much.
A big thank you to whoever drove by and kicked up all this dirt because it MADE these shots!! So atmospheric!
The dropped waist on this wedding dress is absolutely incredible, and is definitely a style that we’ll be seeing more of in 2025 and 2026 weddings.
I love this one ^ because it’s so still. It feels like taking a breath of fresh mountain air, reveling in the sweetness of the grass, the soft wind, and the gentle sun on your face. Still, serene, peaceful.
I loved this shoot and I’m so honored to have this one up on the blog. If you want a shoot like this for yourself, please reach out to me! I’d love to make it happen. <3
