Bridal First Look Photoshoot - Saint George, Utah - Poise & Ivy Imagery

Brynne and Kyler wanted to do their their bridal first look photoshoot before we commemorated their wedding in the Mt Timpanogos LDS Temple in Utah, and needless to say I knew just where to go!

This amphitheater in Saint George Utah has some of the prettiest soft white rocks I’ve ever seen, and at a perch up on some of the rocks you can peek through the canyons to see red rocks that St George is so well known for. Scroll down to see that glorious vision!

The groom awaits his bride as he prepares to see her in her wedding dress. His boutonnière displays a white rose and subtle greenery

The groom’s boutonnière, made of the same florals that his bride uses for her bouquet. The way the greens sit against his neutral patterned suit SENDS me!

I love this shot of our bride so much. The way she looks off to the side gives this photo a little air of mystery and the frame really highlights the location rather than using the background as an afterthought.

The anticipation of the first look!

The moment Kyler sees Brynne in her wedding dress for the first time is so precious. I love when couples choose to include a first look in their bridal photoshoots. There are so many reasons I suggest including it. Go to THIS blog post to see why you should do a first look separately from your wedding!

Soft details from the way this couple interacts. <3 Nothing tells a story quite like a close look at an embrace🥺

The hand under her chin??!!! OMG STOPPPPP How are Brynne and Kyler THIS perfect?! I swear this couple belongs in a romance novel.

See here the gorgeous red rocks that St George is known for! At this spot in the amphitheater you can frame those red rocks with the soft white rock in the foreground. Talk about a visually interesting photoshoot location!

I love how the haze of the upcoming sunset made the far rocks look so soft. You guys, this scene is unparalleled!

One thing I look for in a good location is versatility. I love this amphitheater because you can have striated white rocks, sandy cove, and a scene of the red rocks in the background!

To be completely honest, it’s a little bit of a walk to get to this location, and then you do have to climb up some larger rocks to get to this lookout. Always make sure you’re aware of what kind of shoes your bride and groom are wearing so you can help them stay safe!

This is one of my favorite photos from the whole gallery. I love how the couple is positioned against the darker rock, the angle of the crop, the naturally laid train, the laugh; it’s all so perfect

The cinematic crop has my heart! I feel like there’s something so magical to a “widescreen” look to your photos. It really invokes some type of mood for me!

The handsssss! A good crop on a couple holding hands is just what every gallery needs. Am I right or am I right? 😉

The sand was so cold (It was February, guys) but I was able to convince Brynne and Kyler to run through the sand barefoot! I’ll never ask my couples to do anything I wouldn’t do at a photoshoot, so I was barefoot too. I can honestly say the worst part of that wasn’t even the cold; it was the sandy socks after the shoot was done 😂 With shots like these though, I think it was worth it!

As a fine art and documentary style photographer, one of my favorite things is when a couple includes a first look photoshoot in their wedding package, or a bridal photoshoot if they’re saving their first look for the aisle. If you’re considering adding this shoot onto your wedding photography package, go to THIS post to help you consider your options.
